Snowie's Verbal Diarrhoea

Blog EntryNov 20, '07 1:08 AM
for everyone
I find screen names fascinating.  How and why do people come up with the pseudonyms they go by?

I've been using Snow Bea since the late 90s.  Frosty has called me Snowie since way before we were even together as a couple.  He gave me the name.  The Bea part has a double meaning.  My surname starts with B and the other reason is that sometimes Frosty extends Snowie to Snow-B-One-Kenobi.  When I first made the name up on Yahell, it wouldn't let me have SnowBee, so it evolved into SnowBea.

I'd love to know how you came up with your screen name?

Hi, found your post from Bloggers Anonymous.

I got my online name from the story, The Odyssey. It's a descriptive name for the Greek goddess, Athena. Most people write grey-eyed goddess.

I liked it because it showed my interest in myths and ancient history. Plus it is a unique name that I don't usually have to worry about anyone taking.

I had a blog on another site named Revelations and Fables that I deleted so I just made that name over here. I call it that because I blog rants, things I'm passionate about, average every day b.s., and I also write poems and short stories.

I picked my screenname because my husband, when we first started dating, called me his little brown eyed country girl. It reminds me of the specialness of our first years together & the closeness we had back then.

I came up with "Mister E" after the character in "The Books of Magic" comic book. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mister_E

I like toesocks and I like fairies. LOL... I even have a tattoo of a fairie wearing toesocks! pretty simple, I've been using it in various places for years now. It started as a yahoo email account, where I just put it all together for an ID b/c well I just have to put some thought into things that describe me or whatever... or that I feel some how relate to me since it's so hard to come up with something simple that is NOT already taken.

Thank you all so much for replying. I've loved reading your stories, they're all so interesting.

"so hard to come up with something simple that is NOT already taken."
Isn't that such a problem? You've gotta get in quick to be able to get what you really want!

My three daughters and I all signed up on Yahoo the same day. We wanted something that would be easy for other family members to remember, so we all used our first and middle names, and we all got them, so we didn't have to have numbers, etc.

Back when I first got online I was dating a guy named "Kelly", he'd get all huffy if I called him "Kel", he'd say "My name is KELLY, not KEL!!!!" Then he'd call me "Ames" to try to make me mad, which I thought was just stupid, so when I made my screen name I made it AmesJo as sort of a joke. :) ((My name is Amy Jo)) I've had mine from back in the early 90's too, from when you had to pay for AOL by the hour.....whew! That got expensive! lol.

I'm late on reading post, but saw this on bloggersanonymous and HAD to come by to read the stories. On 360 I had Laughingbluedog, it is a reference to the 50% blue merle aussie in my dog pictured, but moving to multiply have set up butterflydreams1380 which I got because I love sitting in my rose garden listening to the birds chirp and watching the butterflies fly by---so when I'm working at the computer I'm really wishing I was in the garden---thus butterflydreaming------Cool Question
